Securing a 3rd place finish, the best ever (previous best showing was 7th place), the men’s National Team closed out in dynamic fashion, with a win over Egypt by the narrowest of margins in the semi-final consolation match.
With the Bronze at the Lusophonia games in Macau last year, and this Bronze, CV has demonstrated that they can more than hold their own in top international play. In addition to the win over Egypt, CV bested perennial powerhouse Nigeria, which finished 5th in these games.
As many of you know, most of these larger teams have better funding and support, so it really is a cinderella story when a team from a small country can beat all but the very best of an entire continent!
